Taz update

Last week, I took Taz in to have him euthanized.  He had had a tumor removed from his back right leg.  The vet told me that a biopsy showed he had not been able to get it all.  That surgery cost me $700 , which I borrowed.  His future was chemo, radiation or amputation.  Also, he had suspected liver issues.  He had started to lose his appetite, which is never a good sign.

I had him a great 9 years.   I miss him quite a bit.  I still have a great dog named Lacy, an Australian Cattle Dog that I've had for 7 years.  Taz was special, however.  He had an abundance of personality and we were really close.

I will be spreading his ashes at Guanella Pass in Colorado.  At the base of Mount Bierstadt.  This is about 20 miles south of the town of Georgetown on I70.   You can see Breckenridge and Keystone from the summit of Bierstadt.    We spent many hours hiking the trails around there, and doing a lot of path-finding.  He was really good at finding trails that we had hiked on before; this was REAL helpful when we would be returning to the trailhead.   I would have missed a few turns and wasted energy if it weren't for him.

That's Taz with Mt Bierstadt behind him.  Around 2011.

This is Lacy, she is now my only dog.  I will be taking her hiking with just the 2 of us now.  For quite a while, it was all 3 of us.  We were the WP pack.  :)
